  1. Range is used to reflect whether an underground watering system is installed at the time of sod installation. Repairs to the irrigation system are not included, but only serve to make the synthetic turf option more attractive.
  2. Used above is 8 months at $50/mo. For associations/organizations that have staff to mow their own lawn, they can replace the mowing service costs with the costs of buying and replacing lawn mowers, edgers, trimmers, gas, oil, maintenance, and ~10 hours per month of time to mow, weed, water and fertilize each 1,000sf of lawn!
  3. Assume annual inflation of 5% on these costs. Perfect Turf™ maintenance cost is a plug figure to represent that it is very low maintenance product, but cleaning periodically is still needed to maintain your turf. This may be just your staff time, but we don’t want to mislead you by saying that synthetic turf is maintenance free. Despite some companies’ claims, no synthetic turf is maintenance-free.
  4. Yellow bar represents payback point where Natural Grass costs are approximately equal to the original investment in Synthetic Turf. If no initial sod costs needed, the payback is about 9 years.
  5. Not represented in the financial payback analysis is the fact that synthetic turf always looks green and like it was just mowed! Perfect Turf™ enhances curb appeal, greatly reduces bugs, and eliminates birds from gathering on your grass.

Environmental Benefits of Perfect Turf

Posted under Landscaping by dca on Thursday 10 December 2009 at 3:48 pm

The Environmental Benefits of Synthetic Turf

Saving our Dwindling Fresh Water Supply

In arid climates it takes approximately 108,000 gallons of fresh water to maintain a 6,000sf lawn for one year (less in more humid climates).
University of Southern Utah, Maggie Shao

Approximately 50-70% of our fresh water is used for landscaping annually depending on the area of the country.
Southern Nevada Water Authority, New Mexico State University

Perfect Turf requires no water and it looks like green, healthy grass all year long.

No Fertilizers in our Ground or Aquifers

Perfect Turf does not require any fertilizers to maintain its healthy, green appearance. Reducing fertilizers in our ground means fewer fertilizers adversely affecting our water supply.
Friendsofwater.com

Less Air Pollution

Small engines from lawnmowers and edgers are a major contributor to air pollution in our country. Perfect Turf requires none of this type of maintenance; hence it helps reduce air pollution!
US Environmental Protection Agency

Promotes Recycling and Use of Renewable Sources

A single synthetic turf football field contains roughly 45,000 used tires that would otherwise be filling a landfill. In addition, the backing material is partly made from renewable resources such as soybean oils. Most of the synthetic turf material is recyclable and some turf uses a backing that makes it 100% recyclable.

Sod Install

Zoysia Emerald

  • Fine Textured
  • Good Shade Tolerance
  • Medium Fertilizer Requirements
  • Needs to be mowed every 7 to 10 days
  • Moderate Care Required
  • Only available in Sod
  • Mow height 3/8-2″
  • Low-Moderate water requirements

So far this is  my all time favorite sod. It has a fantastic color, and does as well or better in
shade than St. Augustine. It’s more expensive than other sod types but
it will pay for itself in water and fertilizer savings over time.

Zoysia Palisades

  • Excellent Establishment
  • Rapid Re-Growth
  • Few Seed Heads
  • Low Thatching Tendency
  • Mowing 1/2″- 1″
  • Low Water Use
  • Shade Tolerant
  • Cold Hardy and Heat Tolerant

This is also a good sod. It’s reminiscent of St. Augustine. It has a
thicker blade and darker green color.

Zoysia Cavalier

  • Fine leaf texture
  • Long slender leaves
  • Uniformity of appearance
  • Disease resistant
  • Shade tolerant
  • Fast establishment
  • Cold tolerant
  • Good salt tolerance
  • Insect resistant
  • Moderate – low water use
  • Quick Recovery

Bermuda Celebration

  • Soft, Fine Texture
  • Extreme Drought Tolerance
  • Remarkable Durability
  • Unique blue-green color
  • Drought tolerant
  • Lower maintenance needs

Love this Bermuda. It’s a bit more expensive then the common type

but it has a superior color is very drought tolerant.

Bermuda Tifway 419

  • Fine blades
  • Low shade tolerance
  • Med-low water req.
  • High traffic tolerance
  • Mow every 3-7 days
  • Mow Height 1-1.5″
  • Med. cold tolerance
  • med-low disease potential
  • High fertilizing

Most commonly used Bermuda sod. Used mostly on golf course and sports
fields.

St. Augustine, Del Mar

  • High shade
  • Med water requirements
  • Low traffic tolerance
  • Low cold tolerance
  • High disease potential
  • mow every 5-7 days
  • Mow height 2.5-3.5 inches
  • Coarse leaf
  • Med fertilizing

Commonly used Bermuda sod. Used mostly on golf course and sports
fields.

St. Augustine, Palmetto

  • Fair traffic Tolerance
  • Shade tolerant
  • Cold tolerance
  • Drought toleranceMow heights 1 1/2” to 3”
  • Densely spreading
  • Aggressive growth habit
  • Rich, dark green color
  • Performs well In sun and part shade

This is my top choice in St. Augustine. In our experience this sod
has performed very well in shaded areas. It requires at least 4-5 hours
of dappled sun.

St. Augustine, Raleigh

  • Shade tolerant, warm
  • Med. to dark green
  • Does not tolerant traffic
  • Thrives in high temps
  • Cold tolerant

Most commonly used St. Augustine sod. It is widely thought to be the
best at shade tolerance but in my experience the zoysia is better if not equal.
It is however a thirsty grass requiring more water than the other types of sod

Our Sod Installation process

Installation includes a check of your irrigation system by a licensed irrigation technician to ensure
that there are no coverage deficiencies. This will allow your new sod to
be watered correctly and effectively.

  • Roll Area to set slop
  • Lay Sod
  • Re-Roll
  • Check Sprinklers function

Backflow Inspections

If you have any questions please contact us at 214-257-8155 or at Sales@DallasCurbAppeal.Com

What is a BackFlow Device?

(Wikipedia Definition & Diagram)

This is a device that should have been installed with your irrigation system that, when functioning properly, prevents non-potable or “waste” water from mixing with your potable or “clean” water supply that enters your home.

Backflow Prevention Devices

  • Double check valve (DCVA)
  • Pressure vacuum breaker assembly (PVB)
  • Reduced pressure zone device (RPZ)

In some cities both Residential and Commercial properties have to be inspected every 1-3 years. We expect that in the near future all properties will require backflow device testing on a yearly basis.
